World of Warcraft Upgrades and Item Upgrading
Upgrades can boost the value of armors, weapons and rings. Upgrades also increase bonuses such as crit chance and PvE Damage.
If the weapon's upgrade template is %, it will be able to gain an additional 3% of the previous damage every time it is upgraded.
Item upgrading costs crests and the current level of the item. The cost increases as the item level increases.
Components
Upgrade components are items that can be inserted into armor, weapons and trinkets to give an additional stat boost or effect when they're used. They can be acquired through crafting, buying from vendors trading, or looting. Certain upgrades come with special cosmetic effects.
Upgrade components are only available to equipment with a slot. The item must be at least upgraded to blue before a component can be applied. Upgrade components, unlike other modifications, can only be applied once. They are not able to be replaced or applied several times. Infusions and enrichments are a particular type of upgrade component that is designed for non-amulet ascended and legendary equipment and some of the back items that are not ascending. Infusions and enrichments can be retrieved by salvaging gear from the ascended, or completing an elite task in the Prophecies, Factions and Nightfall campaigns.
An upgrade may be prefixed or a suffix, modifying the name of the equipment with which it is used (for instance 'Canthan Armor Insignia is changed to Canthan Armor of Minor Vigor). Some upgrades increase the Mark Rarity or Level of an item, which lets players create stronger versions with fewer Upgrade crystals than they would require to reach the same level with normal methods.
A boost upgrade is a way to alter the defense or attack properties of a weapon, or armor. These upgrades can be crafted from the Portative Forging Station once the player completes the cutscene and defeats the Crazed mechanic. These upgrades can be obtained by purchasing them in the cash shop or by collecting them from enemies when upgrading other equipment.
The player is able to have a maximum of five boost upgrades at a time. Each upgrade increases the probability that a better-quality version of the item will appear at the time of the next reset. This gives players an incentive to upgrade their gear, even in the event that they don't know what will be improved following the reset.
The boost upgrade may be successful or not, the process may be costly, and there is a substantial possibility that the item will be obsolete or even break when it fails. Glyphs, which is the only upgrade component that can be removed without restriction and then replaced with no restrictions are the most commonly used. The only exception is legendary equipment, which requires an Black Lion Salvage Kit to salvage and then re-install.

Certain upgrades require a certain ingredient to activate. This ingredient can be obtained by making Upgrade Recipes. These recipes are available in the upgrade tab of a crafting table, or obtained from NPCs. Each Upgrade Recipe that is completed earns some Technology Points. These points can be used to upgrade the item. Once enough points have been earned, the upgrade can be claimed and the additional bonuses will be added to the item.
When an item is upgraded by a player to a higher level, the original item is replaced with a new item of the same kind. The same armor will be upgraded to the form of a weapon or shield when upgraded. The new item also has its own set bonus. This can be a downside in that the item could become more expensive even if you don't require it.
If the player has enough tokens, they can roll item upgrades. The item will be replaced with an entirely new item that is based on a level 1 base and completely different bonuses. This is a good idea, but should not be used frequently as it can be a waste of resources.
Certain upgrades can be rerolled several times to increase their value, giving players the ability to alter their equipment. Dolphin's Gift is a good example, as it provides buffs when the player is repeatedly in or exits the water. It can be upgraded multiple times, each time increasing the max roll by an increment of 10. This item can be very valuable in PvP as an item that is properly rolled it can be worth between 20 and 50 times its value without being upgraded.
Requirements
The item upgrader allows players to increase the level of their equippable equipment (armor weapons, weapons trinkets, and armor) above ilvl 385 by providing the appropriate currency to the NPC. Upgrades to armor set pieces also increase the defense base of the item, and upgrading weapon items will increase the damage base as well as the required strength and dexterity to match the requirements of the upgraded equipment.
All items are upgradeable up to five times, with the exception for hero equipment, which can be upgraded eight times. Failures can cause the item to return to its original state and the player having to spend additional resources than if they had stopped upgrading after the maximum number.
If an item fails to upgrade the amount of experience in its growth bar is reset to zero. Premium items have different requirements for upgrading as compared to standard equipment, for instance, they may require fewer sowels but more minerals and erons. Whatever the case, players will need to visit the NPC [Armor] Boboko in Central Flarine with each piece of equipment they wish to upgrade.
