Most utility items provide an effect that the player can activate by using them but some have additional abilities that activate when the user presses the button or activates an ability.
Generally speaking, the most popular type of utilitarian item is the Flashlight that is used to illuminate the surrounding area. Other items that are useful include the Helicopter Cap and Rocket Boots which allow the player to hover in mid-air when moving, and the Jetpack that allows the player to accelerate in any directions while on the ground.
